Japanese & Western Designs
THE MACHIYA SHINSEN-EN hotel showcases two complementary designs - traditional and modern Japan - in both its architecture and details. The ‘Machiya Wing’ is housed in a traditional Japanese machiya - a beautiful wooden architecture featuring a Japanese 'tsuboniwa' garden, rooms with tatami mats, delicate shoji sliding screens, Japanese futon bedding, and more. Directly behind this machiya architecture is the ‘Tei-en Wing’, a three-story building with Japanese design-inspired room types.
Color & Design
Color & Design
Every room at THE MACHIYA SHINSEN-EN takes inspiration from Japan's rich and colorful past. Taking cue from Japanese history, you will find rooms accented with shades of sophisticated sunset orange, and a calm blue, which emotes a sense of ‘mono-no-aware’ - a concept that the Japanese have long embraced since centuries past. This design not only reminds us of a beautiful dusk sky, but will evoke a sense of beauty within.
